A unique report by master teacher Khalil Khalil, that discusses the global issues and historical context of oriental dance. It emphasizes the lack of emphasis on technique in teaching and education, leading to a dependency on imitating others and a lack of creativity. Additionally, the document introduces the 1001 Doors movement, which aims to preserve oriental arts and provide valuable information and guidance to students for their comprehensive training.

“I am NOT a belly dancer. I have never been one, and never will be. What I do is not what Hollywood vulgarly calls “belly dance”, but it’s art. I have traveled the world to prove that my dance is not a dance of the belly but a refined, artistic dance full of tradition, of dreaming and beauty. Oriental dance is primarily an expressive dance; in that resides the beauty.”
–Nadia Gamal, in an interview with Scoop magazine, page 70.
“The body moves as it wants, and in a personal and unique way, it dances to the rhythm of the music and merges with it in an almost hypnotic and trance-like act”
— Khalil Khalil, from Oriental Dance (chapter 2, historical context)
